Church History with El Salvador Pastors

My partner Irvin Brooks and I just returned from a week of teaching church history, with a group of pastors in El Salvador.

It  culminated a 4 year effort to teach a ten course curriculum known as “Bible Teaching for Church Leaders and Pastors” or “BTCP.”  This is the same course we teach at FCC every Monday night!  Back in September of 2014, I wrote about the plan  in its infancy.  It’s fun for me to go back and read where we started.

We started out with 66 students with over 30 students taking the 8 courses required for graduation from the program.  This year we have taught 2 elective courses and trained the pastors to lead this program in their country.  “Church History” was an elective course with 11 students.  It was the final course in this program and now leave it in the hands of the pastors to teach it in their churches and in their association.  Here are some pictures of us teaching and our students:

Here’s a group picture!

We taught during the day and I had the privilege to see some of our dear friends we have come to know over the years.  Some of you may recognize some of these faces!

Otoniel Calderon has faithfully coordinated this effort over the last 4 and 1/2 years.  He’s worked tirelessly and has done a great job!  Oto is pictured in the lower left hand corner.  Irvin and I are eating with Oto’s family here.  Pray for Oto as he is having health issues.

I always enjoy food in El Salvador.  Is this bragging?   Nah…it’s motivation.  LOL.

We are making plans to go back in 2019 to lead in a “Pastor’s Family Retreat.”  We need leadership for tracks for pastors, pastors’ wives, pastors’ youth and children.  There will be joint worship and recreation for the families.  We hope to set a date soon for next Fall.  If you are interested, please let me know.

For the Kingdom!
